Eiland Elementary Elementary Awarded $8,847 Grant for ‘Picture This!’
KLEIN, TEXAS – Eiland Elementary received a Klein ISD Education Foundation (KEF) grant to expand students' perspectives and help them grasp how pieces contribute to The Big Picture to educate the whole child.
In a surprise visit orchestrated by the KEF Celebration Express, the school was honored with the grant in the presence of Foundation directors, community members, and our Superintendent, Dr. Jenny McGown.
The elementary school will use the $8,847 grant sponsored by Perdue Brandon Fielder Collins & Mott, LLP, to provide opportunities for students to learn in more than one way. Students thrive when they have multiple opportunities and modes to express understanding of their learning.
Rigors of curriculum do not often allow students to see and experience how curriculum spirals from year to year—for them to appreciate what they have learned and glimpse what they will. Understanding and conceptual development deepen when the learning turns into a targeted, collective discourse that permeates class to class, grade level to grade level, and students to faculty and staff across campus.
Every nine weeks, during library visits, students will create a drawing, writing, or pose for a photo that will serve as an integral part of a larger project to be printed as posters around the school.
During PLCs, the librarian and teachers will develop projects that integrate classroom instruction and student work and publish them for hallway displays. Picture This! will allow our students multiple opportunities to interact constructively with learning.
“Congratulations to Eiland Elementary for their innovative approach to a common challenge,” KEF Director of Community Relations and Education Foundation Christy Spisak said. “It is always a great day when we get to make an educator’s dreams come true in Klein ISD!”
This spring, the KEF Celebration Express distributed grants totaling $97,611. These grants will enrich the educational experiences of our students, supporting various innovative and engaging projects.
We sincerely thank all our grant sponsors who have made these initiatives possible. Your support plays a pivotal role in enhancing the educational journey of every Klein ISD student.
The Klein ISD Education Foundation accepts grant applications twice a year, encouraging, facilitating, and acknowledging creative projects that drive academic success for our Klein ISD students.
